THE TRIP

Includes Australia’s second-oldest city and southernmost capital, Hobart’s rich colonial heritage and natural charms are complemented by great festivals and top-notch food and drink and is an ideal photographic location. Rising high above the city is Mt Wellington, a wild and rugged monolith and perfect for landscape photography. In Hobart we focus on architectural photography, the historic town of Richmond and visiting Mona

Our tour includes the Freycinet Peninsular National Park and Coles Bay, a seaside town in a spectacular setting. We will head straight into the National Park and explore the natural beauty of the area. We run a landscape workshop from the 'lookout' with amazing views of the fabulous Wineglass Bay beach below and the pink granite rocks of the Hazards Mountain Range nearby. Dropping down to the beach for an optional refreshing swim and provides an opportunity to practice motion techniques in water and the use of polarizing filters.

Please note that if weather conditions permit, we explore Maria Island, taking in its vast history and the natural wonders scattered all over the island. We photograph the unusual sandstone formations of the painted cliffs and visit Aboriginal middens. In the south of the island are the beautiful pristine beaches of Chinaman’s Bay and the isthmus. The fascinating history of the island is a photographers paradise and perfect for our workshops on landscapes, wildlife, macro and architecture. The industrial history of Maria Island includes everything from vineyards to cement works but the most interesting is the convict history. There are many ruins from penal days including cell blocks, commandant’s cottages and windmill sites.
